おがりんのお気に入り〜★

随分前のネタだけれど。

１９３０年に初登場したミッキーマウスの愛犬プルートは、同じ年に発見された「冥王星(Pluto)」から命名。
冥王星が惑星からthe dwarf planets（矮小惑星）に降格されたことに伴い、ディズニーのThe Seven Dwarfs（７人のこびと）たちが声明を。

英語の記事のほうが面白おかしく書かれているので、ご紹介。

"Although we think it's DOPEY that Pluto has been downgraded to a dwarf planet, which has made some people GRUMPY and others just SLEEPY, we are not BASHFUL in saying we would be HAPPY if Disney's Pluto would join us as an eighth dwarf. We think this is just what the DOC ordered and is nothing to SNEEZE at." 【意訳】 われわれにとっては「おとぼけ」な話ではあるが、冥王星が矮小惑星に降格されたことを聞き「おこりんぼ」になったり「ねぼすけ」になったりする者もいるだろう。しかし、われわれは「てれすけ」にならずに言わせてもらえば、ディズニーのプルートが８人目のこびととして参加したいという気持ちがあるのあれば、「ごきげん」なことである。（Plutoがdwarfになることは）正にお偉い「せんせい」が決めことであって、「くしゃみ」で飛ばしてしまえるような軽んじて考えることのできる話ではない、と考えている。

▼ちなみに、ミッキーマウスと思われるa white-gloved, yellow-shoed source close to Disney's top dogによると、

"I think the whole thing is goofy. Pluto has never been interested in astronomy before, other than maybe an occasional howl at the moon." （ときどき月に向かって吠えるくらいで、天文学には興味ないみたいね。）
